Lookie here lookie here, think we got some content but the big thing Blight is back up!
Long Lost World Discovered! Horizons Community Manager August 14, 2007 An expedition to uncover a world long thought lost has met with success. It was not easy... Extreme cold, hard metal, and endless punishment of the screaming wind had to been endured. Even after finding the old path, all was thought lost - the world's spark was cold. Holding nothing back, the Great Blades of Power were invoked to relight the world's core and at first there was nothing. Coaxing of the spirits that inhabit the world brought rumblings but still there was no life. Each daemon within the world was contacted and firmly reminded of how it all once was. Careful patience prevailed - and the spark within cascaded out into the thousands of creatures that inhabit the world of Istaria. Blight lives again! Long Live Istaria!
Im Soooooooo excited now ;D

I don't think anyone in their right mind will touch it. Blight or not.

Well, it is always good to have hope - Horizons is to Nick as Ultima Online is to me; it could be fucked up into oblivion and we will still love it dearly. *Chuckles* I think Horizons is a good concept that could someday be turned around and made into something great, but for now its not doing to well.

I know most game companies will not touch it at the moment, but Horizons would really benefit from a higher up company taking it under its wing and begin maintaining it. It is a great concept, it is a beautiful game world (if not a little less than streamlined), and its something someone who is seeking to improve their game portfolio could buy, put some guys on (which would give them training that they could use in other games), and ultimately benefit Horizons. It really couldnt go down from here.
Of course, I mean a game company that can actually do something, like Sony Online Entertainment or Microsoft Studios. I know what I mentioned above has happened more than once without much success, hehe.

Yeah but i know SoE won't take it, you know though we have a few people at SoE that were orignal developers for Horizons.

*Nods* That doesn't suprise me. Its interesting to see how developers change hands and where they end up going. Sunsword, the lead developer who managed to fuck up Ultima Online with all manner of idiocy left to make Dungeons & Dragons Online, and guess what? That bombed too, lol.

Well, that would be absolutely awesome. I do not think I will ever touch it based on there is greener pastures on the way and Horizons doesnt have a great reputation, but I certainly hope it begins to pick up in the future. I really want to see some companies pioneer the idea of rebuilding old games rather than creating sequels and abandoning years of content.

Maybe, Nick, maybe. EI is no longer mentioned on the site or the EULA. a place called Vitrium is. Oddly it has ties to some Richard character who was supposedly a dev on it since the beginning. But I dunnnnnooo.
I know certain people, old interns who were 'working' on decoding HZ to make a private server of it had thier accounts unbanned, so that says alot in and of itself.
But I don't know. I don't trust that EI didn't just change thier skins again. They've done it dozens of times before.
Although, keep an eye out on my lair in Selene would ya? If plot reclamations go in, then I WILL need to do something and quick. So keep an eye out for it K?
I really miss my draggy, but I think I want to wait and see, and take things really nice and slow. Let the mystery unfold itself and show itself before jumping. Oftentimes its the undercurrent we don't see that drowns us when we jump into a peaceful looking river we don't know.
Just do me a favour and keep an eye on those little white flagged houses and lairs would ya? Let me know if any start to collapse and go.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention they ARE going to do the plot reclimations so i'll take a peek at your lair every time i log in. And yeah i know it could just be EI being another skin and if so i guess thats fine since things are seeming to get done *snap, snap, snap* like that now.

Well if EI still owns it, i won't touch it. Because if EI still owns it, you know the whole 'we'll do this, we'll do that, we'll throw in the towel and kitchen sink while we're at it' speak has players waiting around since... oh.. since they bought it!
They ARE going to plot reclaimations since three months after they bought the thing.
That's why its being debated if its another company or not. Wierd things are happening. Its not things EI would handle. but then, it could be another screw over on an old dev too, which is how we got our halloween thing.
I appreciate it. Just keep an eye out and see if they ACTUALLY do these plot reclaimations.

That company sounds really screwy. I mean, the idea that a game could switch hands without it being clear to the players whether it is the same game or not raises alot of red flags.

Heh well im not paying to play right now, I still get to play, and new content is going in. As far as im concerned EA could be holding it so long as things get done right.
